"History at the Turn"

Renovations are complete!

What Was Done
In March of 2007 Historic Dubsdread Golf Course temporarily closed its tee sheet to make some history of its own.  The City of Orlando, The City of Orlando’s Family Parks and Recreation Division, Dasher Golf Design, Prince General Contractor, and Kitson and Partners worked together to renovate Historic Dubsdread Golf Course.  The renovation consisted of major improvements to the entire facility including the Club House, Golf Course, and P

A Face Lift
After hosting over 50,000 rounds of golf each year, we decided the Club House at Dubsdread could use a little face lift as well.  The Club House scope of work will stretch from replacing worn and weak sections of wood and fresh paint on the exterior of the building to new plumbing, tile, partitions and paint in the locker rooms. From new ceiling tiles and carpet to new A/C units and foam insulation Orlando's home course will be a place to play, practice, socialize and remember.
Tree Management Program
A major component of the project is  the extensive tree management program. This program included selective tree removal of non indigenous trees, pruning and under brushing along with general clearing for the new 5th green and 6th tee.     With the dramatic improvement of air circulation and reduction of shade on greens and tees the new turf will have a healthier environment to grow. The second major component in this program was to select indigenous trees to be placed throughout the course.  Though some vegetative clearing is necessary to the health of the golf course, more than 500 trees will be planted in a variety of locations to become part of the improved Historic Dubsdread.

What's going on?
As the clearing portion of the project comes to an end, the shaping and defining of the new Dubsdread begins.  When driving down Par Street it is very noticeable that the renovation is well underway.  Once flat fairways, small greens and uneven tee boxes have been reshaped and enlarged to enhance the golfer's experience.  The fairways are now guarded with new ponds, fairway bunkers and mounding.       The greens are larger providing an easier target to hit with approach shots, but don't be fooled, there will be more undulation to place a premium on the short game.  New tee boxes are being built higher, flatter and larger to increase the hitting area and improve the golfer's stance.     The new and improved Dubsdread Golf Course will provide an enjoyable and challenging round for all levels of players.

ractice Facility.  The Practice facility will consist of 3 practice greens, 2 green side bunkers and a large grass tee hitting area equipped with lights!
